Fifth Hour after Midnight

Emergent, a pattern forms behind closed eyes.
Restless, a sleep that almost falls beneath darkened skies
Connects nodes of thoughts, effluvial remnants of days,
Of the unfinished, or even the unthought begging for cycles,
A fractal flash across a dark sea of mind, thought, a chemical interplay

Transcendent, dissolving boundaries, joining real and fantasy,
Rising upon chthonic energy of the unthought, the ancient ancestral legacy
Births the undetermined mind, the open consciousness enfolds days
In possibilities where successes and failures bloom in cycles,
Where dreams and oracles, materials and hands, are randomly arrayed

Resplendent, across the patterns behind closed eyes.
Fading, sleep abandoned as Apollonian steeds mount the brightening skies
All of dreams’ possibilities fall to the demands of the day
And all the interconnections of real and not are lost in the cycle
Of sun and moon, Dionysian patterns dissolving in light and shadow’s interplay
